A mechanic that lets you tap your creatures to help pay for a spell's mana cost.

Technical Rulings

Each creature tapped reduces the cost by one mana of that creature's color, or one generic mana.

"Tapping 3 creatures to reduce a 5-mana spell to 2 mana."
